Project Overview

Haddad Brands is a leading clothing manufacturer for the largest brands, including Nike, Converse and Levi’s. Their distribution capacity in Dayton, New Jersey, exceeds 1,000,000 square feet. As Haddad Brands expanded their facilities and began consuming more electricity, they were eager to enlarge their solar facility to supply them with a more economical source of power.

System Specifications

Spanning multiple structures in Dayton, New Jersey, the photovoltaic system at Haddad Brands boasts a total capacity of 4.6 MW, and consists of 14,208 solar panels. Collectively, these generate 5,634,622 kWh per year–enough to supply the annual energy of more than 510 homes. The carbon reduction is equivalent to removing 861 gas powered cars from the roads each year! This facility is consuming carbon-free energy while enjoying a huge financial return.

One of the big challenges of this solar facility was that there was not enough capacity on the utility’s circuit to accommodate a solar system of that magnitude. Solar energy facilities are capable of backfeeding excess power to the grid, and utilities need to plan properly to ensure the safety of their equipment. Evergreen worked with PSE&G to conduct a third party consulting study which ultimately located an alternative circuit. The building’s entire electric load was rerouted and the solar project became a reality.
